Festival of Lights
In Kensington, the Washington D.C. Temple hosts its annual Festival of Lights, transforming the temple and surrounding grounds into a dazzling display of holiday lights.
From December 5, 2024, to January 1, 2025, over 500,000 lights will illuminate the area, celebrating the season with nightly displays from 4:45 PM to 9:00 PM. The event also features daily performances by talented local artists, held inside the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors Center.
Admission and parking are free, and doors open 45 minutes before each performance.

36 Annual Puppet Nutcracker
Celebrate the season with the 36th Annual Puppet Nutcracker at The Puppet Co. in Glen Echo Park. This cherished holiday tradition brings Tchaikovsky's classic story of Clara and her prince to life with a whimsical Puppet Co. nursery rhyme twist. Created by founding artists Allan Stevens, Christopher Piper, and MayField Piper, the performance features music by the Arlington Symphony Orchestra. Join us for this festive family favorite from November 29 to December 31, 2024.
Seneca Creek Winter Light Festival
The City’s Winter Lights Festival is back, showcasing a breathtaking display at Seneca Creek State Park. Open nightly from November 29 through December 31 (closed on December 25), this 3.5-mile drive through the park features over 450 glowing displays and beautifully illuminated trees. Seneca Creek State Park, located at 11950 Clopper Road, is easily accessible from I-270.
